Gone But Not Forgotten

Dwellia Hezekiah Rose served in the Civil War for the Confederate States Army. He was imprisoned at Camp Douglas, Chicago, IL  between 1864 and 1865. On his release he returned to Texas to learn that his brother James Rose had been killed on December 20, 1864 while in service in Mississippi. Finding that his brother's wife Alaphair P. Shoffeit Rose had left the property and was living with another family. Upon seeing her disadvantaged condition, he courted and married her.
